The Dominican Republic is truly one of the go-to destination for the best golf in the Caribbean Islands. Equally prevalent seems to be the courses designed by golf architecture legend Tom Fazio. Among the best the Corales coarse at the Punta Cana Resort.
Opening in 2010, the Corales course is a dramatic and beautiful course designed by Tom Fazio. Six of the eighteen holes straddle the awe-inspiring Caribbean coast. The deep, blue waters provide a lovely backdrop when finishing up a game.
A signature of Tom Fazio’s work is how the course is built around the natural landscape of the Dominican Republic. The ocean, of course, is integrated into the course but also the natural cliffs, quarries of coralina, and the inland lakes. Combined with smooth, slick fairways and greens, creates a truly unforgettable golf experience.
The signature of Corales is the Devil’s Elbow, the final three holes on the course. The ocean provides a lot of wind and fine mist upon the grasses. Not mention there is a lot more rock here than usual. It all culminates with a challenging shot over the bay of Corales, which is lined with cliffs. Truly, a spectacular finish.
One final treat for anyone wishing to play is not on the ground but in the sky. The Punta Cana resort is conveniently located near the Punta Cana International Airport but the flights are diverted away from the golf course! Nothing is more distracting during golf, (or anything else for that matter) than the shriek of jet engines above. Thanks to the foresight of the Resort, the game can be played in peace.
