For over one hundred years, since its design and construction by Walter Travis in the year 1900, The Ekwanok Country Club has been a golfing institution in the beautiful state of Vermont.
In fact…Ekwanok Country Club was one of the very first eighteen hole courses in the United States and one of the first that held a candle to the esteemed courses of the United Kingdom.
The course may be located on a club but for those who manage to score an invitation need not concern themselves, for the Ekwanok Golf Course is accessible for players of all skill levels.
On your day to play, be ready for a bit of a workout at Ekwanok. The course has long maintained a tradition of being a walking course where caddies are as much a part of the tradition. Golf carts are provided for those who require them, but players are encouraged to partake in the caddies in order to enjoy the course and its scenery to the fullest extent.
Over the years, Walter Travis’ vision has been lovingly maintained by the staff with only minor alterations, done by Geoff Cornish in the sixties and more recently Bruce Hepner, have been made over the years in order to keep pace with modern players. Great care was taken to maintain the signature style of the course, with its creative routing, bunker usage, and the contours of the greens. The natural landscape of the Green Mountain State is ready to throw off your shot. It is a challenging course but never an overwhelming course. It sits quietly in the shadow of the mountains, dignified and content with the knowledge that it remains one of the finest examples of classic golf to be had in Vermont and the country.
