Australia is a rough and wild land deep down under, home to strange creatures, crocodile enthusiasts, and one of the best golf courses there is…The Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
The courses at Royal Melbourne are among the best the world has to offer, being the host of illustrious golf tournaments since 1959, among them being the Canada Cup, the World Cup, and two President’s Cups, the only course outside of the United States to do so. As one might expect from such a roster, the courses offered are quite challenging and not suitable for the amateur golfer. Royal Melbourne is open to visitors, provided you are a member of recognized golf club and you provide a full payment in advance.
There are two courses at Royal Melbourne but there are three course to play: The West Course, The East Course, and the Composite Course, which utilizes holes from both West and East Courses, twelve holes from the West and six holes from the East. Both the East and West were designed in the early thirties, by the Scottish golf architect, Dr Alister MacKenzie with assistance from Alex Russel, an Australian golf architect. The Composite Course was designed in 1959 in order to accommodate the Canada Cup
After a long day of golfing at such an acclaimed course, the weary golfer can bunk at one of two lodges available. For those who don’t want to waste any time getting to and from the green, there is the The Victoria Golf Club located a mere two minutes from the course. If you are looking for something a little closer to the nightlife, there is the sleek Quest Cheltenham, located in the suburbs of Cheltenham Spa.
The Royal Melbourne Golf Club is a world class golf experience where you can tee off Down Under!
