Looking for a golf course further north? A lot further? Aside from bringing a putter to the North Pole, your best choice would be the majestic Anchorage Golf Course in America’s northernmost state.

The course is open to the public and believes that golf should be fun! So visitors, both resident and non-resident are welcome. Just be sure to check in with your tee time and be punctual!

The course is an eighteen hole, 6600 yard course, designed by the famous architect Bill Newcomb. There are also plenty of areas to practice available, from a grass driving range and putting and chipping greens. Be careful though…Alaska is home to a remarkable level of majestic scenery and the Anchorage Golf course offers plenty of opportunities for scenery. On a clear day, one can see Mt. Mckinley in the distance. From another direction the Chugach Mountain Range or the Cook Inlet can be seen while you tee off, but the scenery can get up close to you as moose, foxes, a variety of waterfowl, a maybe a bear can be seen around the treelined course.

Wanting to relax after your game? Anchorage Golf Course can provide. With a wonderful Bar & Grill style menu, O’Malley’s on the Green is the perfect place to recharge and take in the spectacular views of the course and the Anchorage skyline.

Unfortunately there is no lodging available at the course, but there are several options available in the nearby city of Anchorage including but not limited to the Sheraton Anchorage and the Hotel Captain Cook.

Being in Alaska, of course, it can get very cold during the winter, too cold to play golf. So the Anchorage Golf Course golf season only lasts from May to the middle of October. Even then, the far ends of the season may be treated to a northern snow storm so your best bet would be summer to plan your excursion.
